Colors in Nature

I find the colors in nature inviting me to incorporate their hues into my designs. The photo is one I took of a sunset in at our lake place in Northern Minnesota a few years ago. It remains a favorite photo of mine. The warm colors of the sunset are energetic and the shadows, exciting. Maybe even disturbing, yet I find them calming. We are on Sacred land. I am sure this is not a once in a lifetime sunset. What did our ancestors think of when they saw the sky turn orange, pink, and red? I recall the saying my mother frequently used when the sunset turned the clouds into cotton candy pink; "Pink sky at night, sailors delight". This sunset was unlike the cotton candy sunsets I have witnessed. I truly do not recall what the weather was like the following day, but this sunset remains in my memory as one of the prettiest I have ever seen.

Nature Journal

I finally have my blog together, well sort of together….anyhow, now I can post my Nature Journal project. I plan to use this journal to log my bird and animal sightings. I am hoping to be able to log a Loon family this spring. Last year, the Loon family lost their two hatchlings to a pair of Eagles, so I am really hoping 2012 will be a better year for the Loons on my lake!

I used the Cricut Expression with the Campin Critters cartridge. My first try at the Cricut. I am hooked.

Just a Beginner.......

The idea of Blogging is something I have wanted to pursue for sometime now. I had to wait for my lovely daughter to come home for the Holidays to help me out on this new adventure. Well, here I am. This is my blog. I hope to add some wonderful tidbits of crafting, photography, and stories of my adventures on this site. My life is filled with good stuff. By that, I mean that I am blessed with a loving family, many marvelous friends, and good health. My Blog name, "Northwoods Sneaker" pretty much describes me. I love the Minnesota Northwoods. I try to spend as much time as I can Up North. Sneakers refers to my hiking, snowshoeing, geocaching, and sneaking out of the City to the Northwoods. I am a sneaker. I wear sneakers. Sometimes, I am just sneaky! I have entered a new phase of my life. Since January 2010, I have been blessed with my first grandson. Being a Grandparent is just about the best thing ever. Now, we have two grandsons! Jack is 23 months old, and Owen is 4 & 1/2 months old. These adorable little guys keep me active and make me thankful for every day. I hope to post photos of the birthday cake that my daughter and I will be making for Jack's second year birthday celebration next month. I am planning to use my Cricut Cake to create a masterpiece for a Two Year Old! Today, Jack loves trains. Tomorrow, he may prefer Cars..... but the theme I am sticking with is Trains. I am just a beginner in so many aspects of life.
